Why Most Feijoada Recipes Fall Short in American Kitchens

If you’ve tried a feijoada recipe online and something felt off, you’re not alone. Most recipes fail for one simple reason: they were written for Brazilian ingredients you can’t find at your local store.

  • They call for carne seca, paio, and linguiça, then leave you guessing at substitutes
  • They skip the seasoning steps that build the deep, smoky flavor
  • They treat feijoada as just beans and ignore the rice, collards, and farofa that complete the plate
  • They copy each other’s shortcuts instead of the traditional method

In this ebook, I share the method I learned growing up in Minas Gerais, adapted for American grocery stores without losing what makes it Brazilian.

Ana Pereira, Brazilian cook from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais

Meet Ana Pereira

I was born and raised in Belo Horizonte, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, a region famous for its cooking. I learned feijoada from my mother, in a big family kitchen where food was the center of everything.

My family ran restaurants in Brazil, and our feijoada became known in the region. After moving to the United States, I kept cooking it, and quickly learned which American ingredients work and which ones don’t.

Today, friends still hire me to cook feijoada for their holiday gatherings. This ebook is that same feijoada: the method, the seasoning, and the full Brazilian plate, written down so you can make it in your own kitchen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I find the ingredients in the United States?

Yes. That’s the heart of this ebook. Every ingredient comes with a U.S. substitution you can find at a regular grocery store, plus tips for what to look for at a Brazilian market if you have one nearby.

Is feijoada hard to make?

No, but it takes time. Feijoada is a slow-cooked dish, and most of that time is hands-off simmering. The ebook breaks it into clear steps with timing tips so nothing feels overwhelming.

Is feijoada spicy?

No. Traditional feijoada is smoky and savory, not hot. If you like heat, the ebook shows where you can add it.

Can I use canned black beans?

The traditional method uses dried beans, and the ebook teaches it that way for the best flavor and texture. You’ll also find notes on adjusting when you’re short on time.

What format is the ebook?

A PDF you can read on your phone, tablet, or computer. You get the download link immediately after purchase.

Do I get the drink recipes too?

Yes. The Caipirinha and Caipivodka recipes are included as a bonus inside the ebook.

How do refunds work?

Reply to your purchase email within 30 days and you’ll receive a full refund. No questions asked.
